Hand Swaged Stainless Wire Balustrade Kits

Hand-swaged kits use a thimble and ferrule at each end of the wire to create a loop, which is then used to attach the fittings. When using a hand-swaged kit, you will need to assemble the wires onsite after they have been passed through any center posts. A hand-swaging tool is required to complete this process.

These kits require 3.2mm 7x7 wire.

Hand Swaged DIY Kit - Jaw/Jaw Rigging Screw & Lag screws This is a great DIY kit that can be used with timber posts. The lag screw, in conjunction with the jaw/jaw rigging screw, gives you a nice streamline finish. It is easy to install with the only tools required being a drill, a 3mm and 4mm drill piece, a small shifter and a hand swaging tool. Wire cutters could also be handy but a sharp pair of pliers or tin snips will do.

This is the most common wire used for DIY balustrading. It is a semi-flexible wire and is suitable for use with Thimble and Ferrule fittings as well as hydraulically swaged fittings.

The 7x7 indicates that strand of the wire. It is actually made from 7 thin wires twisted together then 7 of these twisted. In total there are 49 individual strands twisted to make the one strand of wire.
