Components to Make Your Own Stainless Steel Wall Mount Handrail

There are 3 simple decisions to make when choosing the components to make your own wall mount handrail.

1: Decide on the diameter of tube to make your rail from. 2" (50.8mm) is the most common however if the rail is to assist an elderly person you may consider using 1.5" (38.1mm). Tube is available in lengths up to 6000mm. If you require a rail 1600mm for example you will need to order 2m of tube and we can cut it to the correct length for you. Please leave us a cutting list in the customer notes during the checkout process.

2: Decide on the style of end cap. You will need 2 per rail.If you decide to use a dome or flat end cap you will also need to purchase epoxy to glue it to the tube.

3: Choose the support (bracket). You can either use a wall plate that is attached with 3 screws or a coach screw version. Our recommendation is to use the 3 screw version as you will get a stronger fixing to the wall. It can be the case when using the coach screw version that when the bracket is in the correct location to support the rail the plate is not compressed against the wall. When this is the case the full pressure is being placed on the 1 screw. We recommend that you install the brackets no further then 1500mm apart.
